I worked in meteorology at various locations across Canada for 35 years before retiring after a 13 year stay in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in 1998. We lounged around River Hebert in Nova Scotia for a few tears before relocating to Dorchester. I was having health issues that limited my physical activities. I joined the International Lions Club and found a niche where I was actually helping to provide services to the community and meet many like minded individuals. During this period I was present at a presentation about providing driving services to rural residents needing transportation to and from hospital and other appointment. I was intrigued and eventually signed up. I thoroughly enjoy helping these folks and have learned more about local history that I ever dreamed of. Every once and a while I would offer a client an ice cream cone and there would be a twinkle in their eye as they enjoy the treat. That is the ultimate, to bring a bit of happiness and joy, if only for a few minutes. I was then recruited to represent the drivers and my section of Southwest New Brunswick on the board of directors. The ability to help and be of service to fellow residence of the province is rewarding to me.
